Flat Rock hires Adams to raise money for park

FLAT ROCK — The Flat Rock Park and Recreation Foundation announced on Thursday the hiring of Maurean Adams as director of development.

Adams, who served as executive director of the Children and Family Resource Center for nine years, is the immediate past president of the Hendersonville Rotary Club and currently serves on the board of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina.
The Flat Rock Village Council created the foundation to raise money for improvements to the new 66-acre Park at Flat Rock the village bought last year.
Maurean and her husband, David, have made their home in Henderson County since 1977 and raised their five children here.
"I could not be more honored to have been chosen to lead the Foundation's efforts in support of the new Park at Flat Rock," Adams said in a news release. "My job will be to work with the board to raise the necessary funds to create, out of this beautiful green space, the most extraordinary park in the county, if not in the entire state of North Carolina.
"We all have a big – and very special – job ahead of us and I look forward to being part of an amazing fundraising team that turns 66-acres of meadows, streams and wetlands into trails, playgrounds, open spaces and scenic spots for quiet contemplation that anyone of any age can enjoy."
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the perimeter trail at the Park on Tuesday, Flat Rock Mayor Bob Staton praised the foundation's hiring of Adams, calling it "a real coup."
